In 2018, Christy, then working as an Acquisitions and Development Manager for EdR Trust, a publicly-traded student housing REIT in Memphis, founded Pinnacle to develop a student housing property next to the University of Memphis from a former fraternity house. When the student housing REIT declined to pursue the project, Christy quit her job to pursue the development independently. Partnering with The Annex Group, an Indiana-based multifamily housing developer, she embarked on building The Annex of Memphis, a student housing complex with 205 beds and 85 units. The complex boasts the most desirable student amenities, including a gym, study and community rooms, an outdoor patio with fire pit and grills, gated parking, and top-notch security. Despite challenges such as labor shortages and supply chain delays exacerbated by COVID-19, the development continues to serve as a valuable housing option for University of Memphis students, offering the very best proximity to campus and high-quality amenities.
